Punta Mita sits on a private peninsula at the northern tip of Banderas Bay, on the stretch of coast known as the Riviera Nayarit. It is polished, gated, and quietly exclusive, anchored by the Four Seasons and the St. Regis, with warm Pacific water on three sides. Here is what to know before you arrive.
Getting There
Fly into Puerto Vallarta International (PVR), the closest airport, about 45 minutes south of the peninsula by car. Your concierge arranges a private transfer, and most guests are through the gate and into the villa within the hour. Puerto Vallarta has direct flights from most major U.S. and Canadian hubs.
When to Visit
The dry season runs November through May, with warm, clear days and little rain, and it is the busiest and most beautiful window. Summer and early fall are hot and humid with afternoon showers, but quieter and greener. Humpback whales pass through the bay from December to March.
Getting Around
The peninsula is a single gated community, so once you are inside, a golf cart handles most of the day and the beach clubs, golf, and restaurants are minutes apart. For trips off the peninsula, to Sayulita, San Pancho, or Puerto Vallarta, your concierge sets up a private driver.
